Aboot Me

Yeah, I’m Canadian. I grew up in the suburbs outside Edmonton, Alberta…Northern Canada where the winters make us tough and puts hair on our chests. That said, I’m just a sweet chica with a brave streak, abandoning my family to their eye rolling and mental calculations of my debt-to-asset ratio (In Case of Emergency). I wave a regretful goodbye simply to greet a tenacious wanderlust that I can never seem to purge. I gently brush off the questions of my sanity, my bank account and my “new plan” and quietly make my move.

 –

I gave up an intense, ladder climbing, high octane career that I loved to follow my inner nudgings. It was painful, I’m not gonna lie…I had a fantastic life. I loved the money, I loved the lifestyle, I loved the shoes. When my focus shifted I kicked, I cried, I mourned the life that had I worked for…the life I created from scratch. Sweat, blood and tears..triumph, contracts and quotas…all that I was about to abandon. I regretted following the wrong path (which turned out to be the absolute right one). I recited the speeches I would make to the people that said “Walk away from all this? Are you mad?” In response to those unambiguous rants… I rented my house out, sold my car and put the rest in storage. In Oct 08 I got a one way ticket to Thailand and left the rest to serendipity.

 –

Launch off was in Oct 08 and I’m still going strong, every day leaving me wanting more. I’m an experiential person and I learn best when I bear witness. My personal growth is in direct correlation with my experiences. Thus, this would be the story of my growth through my travels and experience. I believe my entire education has been in my Odyssey.

My eternally growing interests lie in travel (clearly), connecting through nature, adventure, the environment, literature, world religions, social media, socioeconomics, spirituality, religion, astrology, human rights, Middle Eastern culture, female empowerment, history. I am interested in most things that have to do with humanity and the progress of it. I am interested in things that can help me change the world. I am a powerful woman. Stay tuned…it’s gonna get interesting.

    Hi,

This is a wonderful blog! It was a very good read.

I was wondering if you would be interested in guest blogging on my blog. It is a collection of my travels and the travels of my guests. If you scan the site you can see that now almost 100% of the posts are from guests. Lately I’ve been finding many people interested in guest posting.

Included in your post will be a link to your website using whatever anchor text or key words you wish and a description of your site (if you choose to include one.)

My blog (onetravel.wordpress.com) receives about 1000 visitors a day and that number is steadily growing.

So if you are interested in being a guest, please let me know.
